What is PA (price action) in crypto?

In crypto chats, PA means price action: how a coin's price has been moving on the chart, its highs and lows, how fast it moves, and how candles form.

When someone says "PA looks strong", they mean the price has been making higher highs and higher lows. "Bad PA" means it keeps falling or can't bounce.

An example

BTC bounces off $78,000 three times and each high is a bit higher than the last. A trader might say "BTC PA is constructive": buyers keep stepping in at the same level.

Why it matters to a beginner

Reading price action helps you see what actually happened instead of what people say will happen. It describes the past, not the future.

What to watch for

  • Higher highs and higher lows (an uptrend) or lower highs and lower lows (a downtrend).
  • Price levels that were tested several times.
  • Big candles with high volume: they show where most trading happened.

Key takeawayPA is just how the price has moved. It helps you describe the market, not predict it.

Common questions

Is price action the same as indicators?

No. Price action is reading the raw price on the chart. Indicators like RSI or moving averages are calculations made from that price.

Does good PA mean the price will go up?

No. It describes how the price has moved. Trends can reverse at any time, so always use a stop-loss.
