Frequently Asked Questions

Questions, answered

The short, honest version of how CoinSparring works — what paper trading is, whether any of it is real, and how your data stays safe.

What is paper trading?

Paper trading means practising with simulated money at real, live market prices — so you can learn how buying, selling, and managing a portfolio feel without any financial risk. Every CoinSparring account starts with a virtual balance to trade with, and you can reset it whenever you want a clean slate.

Is this real money?

No. Every balance, trade, and profit-or-loss figure you see is simulated. The prices are genuine live market data, but nothing you do here moves, deposits, or withdraws real funds. You can't lose money, and you can't cash anything out — it's a safe place to practise.

Are the prices real?

Yes. Price and chart data come from live markets (via Gate.io), so a coin moves in CoinSparring exactly as it moves in the real world. The only thing that's simulated is the money — your practice balance and the trades you place against those real prices.

Is my data safe?

You can sign in with GitHub or Google (OAuth) or with an email and password. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text, and we keep only what's needed to run your simulated portfolio — no real financial or payment details are ever collected. For the full details, read our Privacy Policy.

How does Arena mode work?

Arena is a weekly competition that runs on its own separate wallet (AUSDT), completely apart from your main practice portfolio. Everyone starts the week even, and the trades you place in Arena count toward a weekly leaderboard. Nothing you do in Arena touches your regular practice balance, and vice versa — they're two independent wallets you can switch between.

What's the difference between a market and a limit order?

A market order fills right away at the current market price — you buy or sell now. A limit order only fills at a price you choose or better, so it waits until the market reaches your number (and may never fill if it doesn't). Market is for speed; limit is for control.

Is there a fee?

A simulated 0.10% taker fee is applied to each order, just like a real exchange would charge. It's not real money — it's there so your results stay realistic and you get a feel for how fees eat into returns. The trade confirmation always shows the exact fee before you commit.

Can I reset my portfolio?

Yes. Head to Settings and use the reset option in the danger zone. It restores your starting practice balance and clears your positions, so you can start fresh any time you like.

How do I get help or give feedback?

We read everything. Use the feedback widget in the app to send a suggestion, report a bug, or tell us what's confusing — it helps us make CoinSparring clearer for beginners. You can also browse the rest of the Learn hub for plain-English guides.
