A free crypto trading simulator for beginners
A crypto trading simulator lets you buy and sell crypto with virtual money at live market prices, so you can learn without risking savings. CoinSparring is a free online simulator, a bit like a trading game with real Bitcoin and altcoin prices, built around the mistakes beginners make: a weekly Beginner Cup ranked on risk rather than luck, warnings on coins that look like pump-and-dumps, a Strategy Lab for testing strategies you saw online, and a “Ready for real money?” checklist built from your own trades.
You can browse live charts and markets without signing up; trading needs a free account, which takes seconds. Every account starts with 10,000 virtual USDT. Nothing is real money, and nothing here is financial advice.
The weekly Beginner Cup
Most trading competitions reward whoever took the biggest gamble. The Beginner Cup ranks on how much return you made for the risk you took, so careful trading can win.
- Runs for one week, Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59 UTC, and opens for joining three days before it starts.
- Each entrant gets a separate 10,000 virtual USDT cup wallet. Your main practice portfolio is untouched.
- Only ten large coins can be traded (BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, XRP, DOGE, ADA, AVAX, LINK, LTC), so nobody wins by betting everything on a tiny coin.
- Ranked by return divided by the biggest drop the wallet took (its max drawdown). Steady trading beats one lucky all-in bet. You need at least 5 trades to qualify.
- Open to accounts less than 30 days old or with fewer than 50 trades, as long as you have never finished in the top 3 of a Beginner Cup.
- The top three win virtual USDT (1,000, 500 and 250) and XP. Like everything else here, the prize is practice money.
See this week's cup on the tournaments page.
Warnings on risky coins
Small coins that jump 100% in a day are where beginners lose the most. Every coin page on CoinSparring shows a risk level, Low, Elevated, High or Extreme, from signals such as thin trading volume, extreme price moves, a spike followed by a fade, a recent listing or a leveraged token. You see a warning above the order form before you buy a High or Extreme coin, and the Markets list has a “Hide high-risk” filter.
Strategy Lab: test before you trust
The Strategy Lab backtests popular strategies on real price history, with exchange fees and slippage, and compares each one with simply buying and holding. Signals are read on a candle's close and filled at the next candle's open, so the test can't peek at the future. You can browse featured results without an account; sign in to run your own.
- EMA 9 / VWAP cross
- EMA 20 / 50 golden cross
- RSI 30 / 70 mean reversion
- MACD signal cross
- Bollinger band bounce
- Breakout of an N-bar high
- DCA (buy every week)
Past results don't predict future ones. A strategy that worked on one coin in one period can lose on the next.
The “Ready for real money?” score
Once you have traded for a while, your trading habits page looks for patterns in your own trades: panic selling, buying after a pump (FOMO), revenge trading after a loss, holding losers much longer than winners, overtrading, oversized positions and heavy leverage. Each flag comes with the trades behind it.
It also scores you from 0 to 100 against a checklist:
- At least 30 closed trades
- Trading for at least 30 days
- A positive return after fees
- Max drawdown under 20%
- At most 1 in 10 trades above 25% of your equity
- No liquidations in the last 30 days
- Beat simply holding BTC over the same period
- Few or no panic, FOMO and revenge-trade flags
Bots
Automate a plan and watch how it behaves: a DCA bot buys a fixed amount on a schedule, a grid bot buys and sells across a price range, and a Strategy Lab strategy can run as a bot on your virtual balance.
AI explanations
Signed-in users can ask the AI about a chart or a coin, or get a plain-English review of a closed trade: what happened, why it matters and what to try next. Use is limited to a few requests per hour. AI answers can be wrong, and they are educational, not advice.
Common questions
How do I learn crypto trading as a beginner?
- Start on a simulator with live prices and virtual money, trade small sizes in large coins, use stop-losses, and review your trades. On CoinSparring that is free and starts with 10,000 virtual USDT. See how to practice for free.
Can I use the simulator without signing up?
- Yes, to try it. You can place a market trade with 10,000 virtual USDT as a guest, no sign-up needed, and browse live charts, the markets list and every guide. Guest trades stay in your browser only. A free account, which takes a username and a password and about a minute, saves your trades and adds limit orders, bots and competitions.
Can I practise day trading on it?
- Yes. Prices are live, so you can open and close positions within the day on spot or futures. Every order pays a simulated 0.10% fee, and the trading habits page flags overtrading, a common way day traders lose money to fees.
Who can join the Beginner Cup?
- Anyone whose account is less than 30 days old or who has made fewer than 50 trades, and who has never finished in the top 3 of a Beginner Cup. Everyone can watch the leaderboard.
What does the risk badge on a coin mean?
- It rates a coin Low, Elevated, High or Extreme from its trading volume and price history, the patterns pump-and-dumps leave behind. It knows nothing about the project or the news, so a Low badge does not mean a coin is safe.
Does a high readiness score mean I will make money with real funds?
- No. The score is an educational summary of your paper trades. It is not financial advice, and passing it does not mean you will make money with real money.
Do I need to download an app?
- No. CoinSparring runs in the browser on phone and desktop. On a phone you can also add it to your home screen and open it like an app.
Is it free?
- Yes. There is no paid plan and no deposit. Everything on CoinSparring uses virtual money.
